I am a 20-year old Multimedia and Design student named Tamara...who is always a bit crazy due to lack of sleep and an overabundance of caffeine.
Just got back from having dinner with my Sifu. It’s interesting to look back at the many dinners I’ve had with him, and the things we have discussed— he’s always given me advice and guidance on situations in my life about which I was unsure. Tonight, I definitely felt like I’ve come a long way since those early dinners. Although he still gives me advice occasionally, I feel like I’m finally solidly heading in the direction I was meant to go. Even though I have no idea where it ends, that doesn’t bother me anymore. I can now watch myself grow into who I was always supposed to be.
I’m looking forward to the New Year, because it’ll be like making a new beginning in some ways— I’m sure there will be lots of new opportunities and experiences which I never could have imagined before meeting Sifu and before he changed my life forever and for the better. For example, two years ago, I would have never even contemplated making a solo trip to Malaysia… and now that trip is becoming a reality (next summer! although it may not be solo…).
It’s amazing how much difference someone can make in someone else’s life in the mere space of a year and four months.
